EJSHS Green Team: 2012

Our Goals...

Focus 1: Reduce the amount of solid waste going into the landfill
-Food waste will be processed (composted) mechanically and naturally with the aid of worms
-Paper waste will be used in the vermicomposting process and in large scale composting
-Recyclable materials such as aluminum, glass, and tin will be collected and transported to recycling centers

Focus 2: Provide Environmental education with hands-on learning systems
-maintain a 30x40 greenhouse; emphasize sustainability in the form of reduction, reuse, and recycling organic material
-maintain an adjacent garden; emphasize the use of organic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, etc.
- produce high quality produce that can be distributed community wide.

Focus 3: Provide students with practical entrepreneurship opportunities
-form an E-business that produces, packages, and ships merchandise from the projects (fertilizer, worms, produce)
-maintain and update business website
-manage accounts receivable/payable
