Cleaning Greener

The weather is getting warmer meaning we don't have much time left until our summer break. There's seven weeks of school left and green team still has projects to get finished. Other than our own projects that we have all been working on, we have been busy with our group project on re-opening the Eureka movie theater. We have been working on assigning everyone jobs to do such as inventory, concessions, head of house, voice over, etc. and we've also been busy with finding a catchy name for the theater. On my own project with the greener cleaner, I have been having issues with straining the cleaner and getting only the juices into the container. I'll be starting my experiment to try to make a much easier way to strain the cleaner but still keep the little pieces of fruit out of it.

CeeD Wall Update

I have five sunflower seeds planted and I have six rosemary seeds ready to plant. I'm giving the six rosemary seeds that are ready to Jayte Hamilton and Lyndsey Williams for their Hangin Green project.

Movie Theater

Greenteam class is very busy with the warmer weather ahead we have many projects to accomplish! One of our newest projects is the reopening of the Eureka movie theater. We have many plans to the opening of this, as this is a big project for 8th graders to take on we are all strongly involved and very excited. Our peers and overall community is willing to help out in as many ways as possible. We each have our own jobs whether its getting equipment, cleaning, bills, or concessions as I'm head of concessions. I will be doing many things such as ordering food, food equipment, and giving applications to hire more workers. This is a big step for our community but will give some entertainment to our town as i strongly believe!! Please help support us whether its being a resource, donating, or volunteering!!

Hangin' Green's Growin'!

Lyndsey Williams' and my project, where we are growing hanging plants from recycled two liter bottles is becoming more and more successful each day!  We have right now five grown plants, two plants sprouting, and seven plants in the process of sprouting.  We sadly lost a plant over spring break, which apparently was uprooted after being watered at some point.  Garrett Lazar has six germinated seeds, which are ready for us to take over and to be placed as a new addition to our hanging plants!  We hope to plant those six started seeds sometime next week!  Pictures of this project will be uploaded also next week!

"Green'' Project UpDate

Baby Got Plant is now flourishing like there is no tomorrow (for the second time)! Sage and I had to redo all of our herbs that were growing the first time because during the time of Christmas break they never got watered so many of the herbs died, and so we replanted twenty of them. Now the plants are ready to be transferred to mason jars so they can grow bigger and be sold once properly hung in place we will have three different sets to sell, two big sets and one small set as well.

Greener Cleaner

Greener Cleaner is a multi purpose cleaner used from only fruit, yeast, brown sugar, and water. So far, the making of this cleaner has been going well. It has been working very well with cleaning all sorts of different things. Working day after day shaking and "burping" the bottles I realized that although the cleaner is made from fruit, it doesn't really smell all that good. I plan on doing some research and finding ways to make this cleaner have a much better smell. I also plan to find a way to make the cleaner in bigger batches while still being able to shake and burp it. I have also been working on designing different labels for all of the bottles and also adding more labels describing exactly what this cleaner can be used for, what the ingredients are, one informing that if the cleaner is ingested or comes into contact with skin that it isn't harmful like many other cleaners, and one letting people know that these bottles can be reused and refilled and to not dispose of the bottle.

Salad Bar!!

Our 7th hour green team class has been working together to create magnificent projects and become more efficient in all aspects of our life. The project or challenge I am overtaking is a salad bar, how cool would it be to pick your own fresh veggies for a salad, sounds pretty cool to me! During this project I will be researching irrigation and frames for the salad bar. Some fundraisers maybe best for easy purchase of this structure. My plan is to have a full green wall where students can make there own salad and admire the ability of gardening and having a fresh market. More uploads will be in the future for my upcoming ideas on this project.

Hangin' Green!

This semester there are several individual projects being done by Mrs. Hart's seventh hour Green Team class!  The project that Lyndsey Williams and I, Jayte Hamilton, are doing is called Hangin' Green!  We are creating hanging plants out of two liter pop bottles that are very efficient when it comes to getting rid of excess water!  So far we have six starter plants that are adding green to our green team classroom! We have eight plants still in the process of germinating, and one plant that has started sprouting! Pictures of this project will be soon uploaded to show you our progress on this fun, green project!

Baby Got Plant!

Baby Got Plant is a project that Sage Gurraro and I have been working on for two and a half weeks. We plant the seeds in baby food jars and keep them under grow lights and water them every day. We will wait for them to grow and then we will transplant them into mason jars, put clamps around the jars and screw them into a board and label them below the jars. We have planted parsley, oregano, cilantro, dill and rosemary. We currently have twenty-six jars with plants in them and in the picture to the left are the four fastest growing plants so far.
